Time synchronization seems to be critical for IT equipment and this holds true for Raritan equipment as well. Since most IT shops will test the equipment before placing it in service, a way to synchronize the clocks on all that gear when it is not connect to the company or Internet NTP server is required.

Here's a tip for you:

I have a Vista laptop that I use for testing. Vista has a NTP server built into the operating system. It just needs to be enabled. Here's how:

Click START and run REGEDIT
Find the Registry Key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpServer]
Change "Enabled" dword to 1

All those warning about messing with your registry apply! Restart the computer.

Then you can use your Vista Laptop as the NTP server for your equipment testing by setting the laptop IP address as the NTP server for all the equipment.
